The City of Westfield received honors Tuesday as one of the nation’s top destinations in youth sports. Sports Destination Management, the leading publication for sports event planners and tournament directors, announced the winners of its 2018 Reader’s Choice Awards. Westfield’s Grand Park Sports Campus was named a “Favorite Outdoor Venue.”

“When we dreamt of Grand Park, we did not want to create a good place for youth sports, we wanted to create the best facility possible,” said Westfield Mayor Andy Cook. “This recognition is a great honor, but we see it every day. When a child from a local sports team or a visitor on a travel team gets to play in our world-class facility that is when we feel really good about what we have built and the experience we continue to develop. The fact that we have also created a strong economy for our community is a value add.”

Grand Park, Westfield’s 400-acre sports complex, features 31 multipurpose outdoor fields, 26 baseball/softball diamonds, more than 10 miles of paved trails and an indoor facility with three full-size fields, locker rooms and dining facilities. Grand Park brings in almost two million visitors a year and has attracted more than $500 million in economic development to the area since its opening in 2014. Grand Park is also the official home of the Indianapolis Colts Training Camp.

This year’s winners, voted on by a jury of their peers, represent the go-to destinations and companies in the sports tourism industry. For a look at all honorees, click here.
