Grand Park is in the midst of hosting two more big events this week.
First is the 14/18 Amateur Baseball Championships, which is going on now through Sunday. A total of 178 teams are competing in three different divisions (14U, 18U and 14U Reserved). All teams finished the first slate of pool play games on Thursday, and will have been re-pooled and will play two more games on Friday and Saturday, with the winners advancing to bracket play.
Games begin at 9 a.m. today and run through 8:30 p.m. Pool play continues at 8 a.m. Saturday and finishes that afternoon, with some bracket play starting that afternoon as well. Bracket play continues at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, with the final game at 5:15 p.m. that day.
Also taking place is the Midwest Firecracker Softball Showcase. The event runs through Sunday and features competition in 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U.
This event has three sites: Grand Park for 14U, 16U and 18U teams, Noblesville High School for 16U and 18U teams, and the Chuck Klein Complex, located near Rockville Road and Lynhurst Drive in Indianapolis, for 12U and 14U teams.
Pool play in this tournament continues through Saturday, with bracket play taking place on Sunday.
