Grace Charter Authority approves new classical charter school for Hamilton County

Submitted

Valor Classical Academy reached another significant milestone on Monday when the school’s charter proposal received unanimous approval from the authorizing board of Grace Schools Charter Authority, LLC.

The charter school recently held a local public hearing in the Carmel Clay school district in September, which was covered by WISH-TV.

Valor Classical Academy will become Hamilton County’s first tuition-free, K-12, classical charter school. The school will provide a civic-centered education rooted in American heritage and focused on character and virtue. Students will be taught to love learning and to develop good habits and character through the study of content-rich materials and enduring methods.

Valor is pursuing the former Orchard Park Elementary under Indiana’s “Dollar Law” for charter schools. In an effort to continue the appropriate educational use of the Orchard Park building, the charter school petitioned the Court for a ruling on this law. The Court is expected to render its decision before Dec. 31.

Valor Classical Academy will hold a school information night at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27 at the John W. Hensel Government Center, 10701 N. College Ave., Carmel.

In preparation for welcoming K-6 students for the Fall of 2023, Valor is seeking volunteers and enrollment interest. Sign up at valorclassicalacademy.org and follow Valor on Facebook. For more information about Valor’s exciting upcoming events, please visit Valor’s Events page.
