Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County urgently needs volunteer drivers
The success of Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County depends on those who volunteer their time to deliver meals to those in need. With a growing demand for meal services and expanded meal offerings, the need for volunteer delivery drivers has never been greater.
Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County is dedicated to improving health outcomes and quality of life by providing home-delivered meals to homebound individuals who are unable to prepare meals for themselves.
“Personal home delivery is a vital part of Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County’s services,” said Beth Gehlhausen, executive director of Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County. “As a volunteer, you may be the only friendly face that a recipient sees on your delivery day. The care and connection volunteers provide are just as important as the meals themselves.”
New volunteers will receive personalized training, riding along with an experienced driver to learn the routes, meet recipients, and understand any special needs. A Volunteer Coordinator schedules all new-driver orientations and ensures volunteers are fully prepared before starting.
As more individuals depend on Meals on Wheels for daily nutrition, Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County is calling on the community to step forward and help make a difference. Becoming a volunteer driver is a rewarding way to serve your neighbors and ensure that those who are homebound receive nutritious meals. They offer a variety of delivery routes, designed to fit your level of commitment and capacity, so that volunteering can be flexible and rewarding.
