Gordon A. Hanlin, 80, Sheridan, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2018 at his home after a short illness. Gordon is survived by his wife of 54 years Ann (O’Connor), daughter Pamela (Michael) Siefert, sons Gregory (Allison) Hanlin and Daniel (Michelle) Hanlin, grandchildren Vanessa (Sean), Kelsey, Rachel, Mariah, Joe, Holly, Casey, Ben, Sam and Ethan, great-grandchildren Lilly and Cash, step-great-grandchildren Cooper and Lauren, brothers Gerald Hanlin and Keith (Linda) Hanlin and sisters Noreen Hurlburt and Laura (Lee) Chew, sisters-in-law Karen Hanlin and Caroline Weber, aunt Gwen Hanlin, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Marjorie Hanlin and his brother Kenneth Hanlin Jr.
Gordon was born September 10, 1937 in Union City, Pa., and enjoyed scouting and FFA in his youth. He was a graduate of Union City Area High School and Gannon University, Erie, Pa., with Accounting and MBA degrees. He served our country in the US Army National Guard, stationed at Ft. Sill, Okla., on active duty from 1961 to 1962. He initially worked in the printing and typesetting industry and later worked in accounting and business administration, retiring from GTE in 1999. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Cicero, The Knights of Columbus and The American Legion.
Gordon loved Molly, his Cocker Spaniel, and all animals. He enjoyed gardening, growing anything and everything, feeding and watching the birds, all things Notre Dame (especially football), volunteering at Riverview Hospital Noblesville, camping with his family and most of all having his family gathered together.
His family will receive friends, relatives and guests from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 410 Pearl St., Cicero, with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. Graveside services and interment will be 11 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018 at St. Teresa Cemetery, Union City, Pa.
