Golfers can help local scholars

The Carmel American Legion ‘Dollars for Scholars’ provides college scholarships for graduating seniors from each of Hamilton County’s seven public high schools. To bolster that annual program, the Legion will inaugurate its first fundraising golf tourney this year.

Andy Carson, commander of Post 155 at Carmel, said the tourney will be held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 30 at Brookshire Country Club. A charge of $80 per person will entitle players to participate in the team scramble tourney.

A new automobile will be awarded to a golfer who makes a hole-in-one. Members of the public, men and women, are welcome along with Legion members. And, following the tourney all are invited to the Legion for drinks and burgers on the post’s new covered patio.

Those interested in entering the tourney or seeking more information may call Jim Frederick at (317) 919-2241 or stop by the Carmel Legion at 852 W. Main St. for an entry form.
