Golf: Westfield boys wins final tournament of regular season

The Westfield boys golf team won its final tournament of the regular season, placing first at a three-team meet Wednesday at Coyote Crossing Golf Club.

The Shamrocks scored a 288, followed by Zionsville with 312 and Carmel with 314. Two Westfield golfers shared medalist honors, as Cam Kooi and Jake Cesare both carded 69s. Ryan Cesare was next in line with a 73, followed by Will Harvey 77, Alec Cesare 78 and Matt Shull 81.

Carmel scores were not available at press time.

On Tuesday, the ‘Rocks placed second at the Zionsville Invitational at the Golf Club of Indiana. Westfield totaled a 293, behind only Bloomington South’s 290. Jake Cesare was the individual medalist with a 68, followed by Kooi 72, Harvey 73, Alec Cesare 80 and Shull 80. Ryan Cesare played as an individual and scored 82.

Carmel finished fourth as a team with a 304. Mason Pace led the Greyhounds with a 73, followed by Joseph Armfield 74, Kent Fujita 77, Daniel Montgomery 80 and Ethan Hoagland 83.

Hamilton Southeastern tied for fifth with a 312. Aiden Huffer was the Royals’ low man with a 76, followed by Tyler Marcinko 77, Chuck Putnam 79, Jack Finwall 80 and Jordan Huxford 87.

Hamilton Heights finished its regular season by claiming runner-up honors at the Plainfield Invitational, which took place Wednesday at Deer Creek Golf Club.

The Huskies totaled a 342 as a team, behind only the host Quakers’ 314. Nathan Cox led Heights with an 80, followed by Kole Kirtley 84, Vincent Harley 88, Ethan Millsaps 90 and Josh Steffen 102.
