The Westfield boys golf team shattered the school record while winning the West Lafayette Invitational, which took place Saturday at the Purdue Kampen Course.
The Shamrocks totaled an eight under par 280, winning the event by 20 strokes. Three Westfield players finished under par, led by medalist Jake Cesare, who scored a 67. Cesare went five under, including an eagle on the eighth hole.
Alec Cesare and Cam Kooi both carded two-under par 70s. Nolan Hall scored a 73 and Will Harvey posted a 75.
Hamilton Heights scored a 363. Garrett James led the Huskies with an 82, followed by Ethan Millsaps 87, Nathan Cox 95, Vincent Harley 99 and Josh Steffen 104.
Guerin Catholic won their second tournament in as many days Saturday by triumphing at the Muncie Invitational at The Players Club.
The Golden Eagles scored a 295. Leo Wessel led Guerin Catholic with a 70, followed by Jacob Modleski with a 74. All five Golden Eagles were in the 70s: Zach Thieme carded a 75, while Connor McNeely and Scotty Smith both had 76s.
Noblesville finished fourth with a 303. Will Perkins was the individual runner-up with a 69. Rory Bushong added a 76.
Hamilton Southeastern placed fifth with a 307; Cole Starnes and Vijeet Akala both had 76s. Westfield sent a team to The Players Club and placed sixth with a 309. Matt Shull scored a 74.
Carmel was seventh with 314; Owen Sander was the Greyhounds’ low man with a 75. Fishers took eighth with 318; Conner McMillan scored a 76.
