Golden Eagles, Trailblazers advance to semi-finals

Guerin Catholic and University both easily advanced to the semi-finals of the McDonald’s Hoosier Hysteria Tournament at Vincennes Lincoln on Friday.
The Golden Eagles beat Evansville Day 53-37. Guerin trailed 19-16 at halftime, but held a 31-29 lead by the end of the third quarter, then overpowered Day 22-8 in the fourth.
Joseph Bobilya scored 19 points for the Golden Eagles, with Bernie McGuinness adding 10; both had two 3-pointers. McGuinness corralled four rebounds. Kian Sills finished with nine points, six steals and four assists.
University overwhelmed Borden 58-22 in its first round game. The Class 1A No. 4 Trailblazers were in control from the beginning, leading 32-11 at halftime and never allowing Borden more than seven points in a quarter.
Quinn Steiner threw in three 3-pointers for nine points, as nine different University players scored. Max Greenamoyer and Joe Martin both scored eight points, with each one making two 3s. Camden Brown added seven points for the Trailblazers.
The Golden Eagles will take on Evansville Harrison at 11 a.m. today in their semi-final game, with the Trailblazers playing Vincennes Lincoln in the second semi-final game at 2 p.m. The third-place game is set for 7 p.m., with the championship to follow at 8:30 p.m.
