Guerin Catholic split its two games at the Tipton Lady Devils Holiday Tournament on Friday.
In their first game, the Golden Eagles lost to Jennings County 57-48. Guerin fell behind 11-2 after the first quarter, and Jennings County held on to that margin for the other three periods.
Nicole Cunningham drained four 3-pointers on her way to 13 points, with Paige Bennett adding 12 points.
“Although it was a loss it was on the better all around games for us this year,” said GC coach Jeff Buckner.
The Golden Eagles won their second game, beating Tri-Central 60-56 in overtime. The Golden Eagles led 26-23 at halftime and withstood a third-quarter comeback by the Trojans by outscoring them 15-10 in the fourth to force the OT. Freshman Katie Koger made two free throws with 17 seconds left to tie the game. Guerin Catholic outscored Tri-Central 11-7 in the extra period.
Cunningham scored 15 points, making three more 3s. Hanna Bills added 12 points and Carly Wilson scored 10.
The Golden Eagles are 4-11 and will play one more game today.
