Guerin Catholic used a stellar defensive effort to pick up its first win of the season Friday, beating Greenfield-Central 37-25 at the Eagles’ Nest.
The Golden Eagles led 9-6 after the first quarter, then nearly shut out the Cougars in the second period, allowing them only one point. Guerin Catholic led 19-7 at halftime, and maintained that margin throughout the second half.
Katie Koger had a solid game for GC, making three 3-pointers on her way to a team-leading 16 points. Hannah Weitzel hit two 3s and scored seven points.
The Golden Eagles are 1-1 and host Hamilton Heights on Tuesday.
