The Guerin Catholic girls golf team hosted the All-Catholic Tournament Friday at Pebble Brook, in conditions that were more suitable for football than golf.
It was a cool, windy day, with Cathedral winning the event by scoring a 323. The Golden Eagles came in fourth with a score of 375.
“It was tough conditions, but we’re playing a little injured,” said GC coach Mark Mathews. “We have some players out. So we’re looking forward to being in full force soon.”
Guerin was led by Gabriella Gilrowski, who finished third individually with a score of 77.
Next up for the Golden Eagles is a trip to the Monroe Central Invitational today, then they will see Cathedral again at the Irish Invitational on Monday. It’s been a busy week for Guerin, but it has been productive, as GC won the Lawrence Central Invitational this past Monday and has done well in subsequent tournaments.
“We won our first tournament,” said Mathews. “We’re hoping to bookend it this Saturday and win tomorrow. So all in all, playing injured and having some of our girls out, we’re not doing too bad.”
