Golden Eagles get season’s first victory

Guerin Catholic picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday, dominating Shortridge 70-34 at the Eagles Nest.
It was the first win for first-year head coach Marc Quaranta. His team led 18-13 after the first quarter, with Nicole Cunningham scoring eight points. The Golden Eagles then blasted through the second period, outscoring the Blue Devils 20-4, to take a 38-17 halftime lead.
Cunningham added another 11 points in the second quarter, then scored 12 in the fourth period, giving her a total of 31 points, her career high. Cunningham drained six 3-pointers. Katie Koger and Kathryn Loso both added eight points.
Guerin Catholic is 1-4 and plays at Covenant Christian on Saturday afternoon in a Circle City Conference game.
