Golden Eagles fall to Brebeuf

Guerin Catholic dropped its first-round game in Class 3A Sectional 26 Friday night, falling to Brebeuf Jesuit 21-6 at the Eagles’ Nest.
The Braves went ahead 14-0 at halftime, scoring at the beginning of the second quarter on a punt return touchdown, then a few minutes later punched the ball in from the one-yard line. Brebeuf then took a 25-yard interception return in to score early in the third period.
The Golden Eagles got their touchdown with 4:36 left in the third, as Jake Labus took a six-yard pass from Luke Keller into the end zone. Keller had a great game, completing 18 of 29 throws for 177 yards.
Thomas Kaser led GC’s rushing with 84 yards in 23 attempts. Bernie McGinnis had eight catches for 86 yards.
Guerin Catholic finished its season with a 6-4 record.
