Guerin Catholic opened its softball season Tuesday at Lebanon, falling to the Tigers 9-7.
The Golden Eagles got their first runs in the top of the first after Anna Mauch blasted a home run. Lauren Brady and Lucy Kemp also scored. Lebanon cut the lead to 3-2 after two innings, but Guerin Catholic got those runs back in the top of the fourth. Lilli Everts scored on Brady’s RBI groundout, while Haleigh Abbott was sent home by Madi Cain’s sacrifice fly.
Lebanon took over in the bottom of the fourth inning, pouring in seven runs to lead 9-5. Kemp homered to open the fifth inning and hit another home run in the seventh, but the Tigers were able to hold on for the win.
Mauch went 4-for-4 at the plate, while Kemp was 3-for-4.
