Guerin Catholic lost a tough one at Lafayette Central Catholic on Friday, falling in overtime 72-68 to the Class 1A No. 3 Knights in overtime.
The game’s two halves were mirror images of each other. After getting ahead 10-8 in the first quarter, LCC powered through the second to lead 33-20 at halftime. But the Golden Eagles stormed back in the third period, cutting the Knights’ lead to 40-38 by the end of the quarter. The two teams were tied at 57-57 at the end of regulation, but Central Catholic outscored GC 15-11 in the extra period.
Four Guerin players reached double figures. Luke Godfrey led with 20 points, while Kian Sills, Bernie McGuinness and Josh Osborn all had 11 points. Sills and McGuinness both collected seven rebounds. Joseph Bobilya handed out five assists and Osborn dished out four.
The Golden Eagles are 10-8 and play at Scecina on Wednesday.
