In a Tuesday all-county game, Guerin Catholic beat Hamilton Heights 7-4.
The Huskies scored two runs in the top of the first inning. Hayley Greene hit a single to score Taylor Ewing, then Jessica Kaurich went home on an RBI groundout by Aliyah Dorsey.
The Golden Eagles tied the game in the second inning. Natalie Mowid cracked a triple into right field to send in Hannah Bills, then Mowid got home on an RBI groundout by Jackie Sapienza.
Heights took the lead back in the third inning, going up 4-2. Dorsey singled in Kaurich, then Kelsie Albright’s left field hit scored Greene. Guerin Catholic tied the game right back on a two-RBI double from Alicia Flores; Ana Macha and Madelyn Buckner both got home.
The Golden Eagles took the lead for good in the fifth inning, scoring three runs. Alicia Flores batted Macha in, then Victoria Flores’ single scored Buckner. Alicia Flores stole home for the inning’s third run.
Alicia Flores finished the game 3-for-3, batting in three runs. Buckner was 2-for-3 and scored twice, as did Ana Macha. Alicia Flores pitched the game’s final four innings, allowing just one hit.
Greene and Albright both had two hits. Dorsey also made several strong defensive plays.
Guerin Catholic hosts Cardinal Ritter at 5 p.m. today, while Heights travels to Westfield today for a 5:30 p.m. game.
