Fishers Parks offers many family-friendly events all year long. Keep reading to find out about two upcoming events during February and information on the popular Biz Kidz program this summer. You can find even more events taking place in the city at this link.
Heart Hike
Just before Valentine’s Day, take the Heart Hike at Ritchey Woods. Find images on the nature preserve’s trails that show heart shapes in nature and stick around after your hike to warm up by the campfire.
During your short, self-led hike, look for images of hearts naturally occurring in nature that have been placed along the walking trails, like a heart-shaped tree trunk, birds forming their wings into a heart shape, and more.
This event is free and will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11. No registration is required. All are welcome.
Pop up: Beekeeping 101
Honeybees are responsible for 80 percent of pollination and 30 percent of the world’s food, but their population is declining rapidly.
Learn about beekeeping from North Central Indiana Beekeepers Club member Dave Zbieszkowski during this education session from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4 at the AgriPark. Learn why beekeeping is a great hobby, the proper gear, and common misunderstandings and mistakes. All are welcome. No registration required.
Zbieszkowski is a lifelong lover of the outdoors and has been a hobby beekeeper for six years. He is a Principal Geologist at August Mack Environmental, Inc., and has resided in Fishers for 25 years with his family.
Calling all Biz Kidz!
Applications for the weekly Biz Kidz program at the Fishers Farmers Market will open on Feb. 1 and close March 31.
Returning in 2023, the Fishers Farmers Market is again expanding its annual Biz Kidz Day to offer opportunities for young entrepreneurs all market season long. Each week, a select group of Biz Kidz vendors will be given space at the market to sell their handmade or homegrown items.
Budding entrepreneurs aged 5 to 17 can apply starting Feb. 1 to be selected to vend at an upcoming Fishers Farmers Market date this season. Click here for more details.
