Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana responding to Hurricane Helene disaster

Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana is responding as part of the Feeding America network to the disastrous flooding and devastation across the southeast in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

A number of truck loads have already been sent to the Atlanta Food Bank and to Second Harvest of East Tennessee. Second Harvest is coordinating assistance to those in need in Tennessee as well as assisting with disaster relief in western North Carolina.

Relief has included shelf-stable items and prebuilt disaster boxes. Ready-to-eat items such as protein bars, pop top meals, shelf stable milk, peanut butter, cereal, canned tuna, and chicken are included in these boxes.

Gleaners anticipates continuing to assist its sister food banks throughout the southeast over the coming weeks.
