“What a beautiful night for a meet,” said Carmel coach Aaron McRill. “After the meet was postponed a day, we were greeted with near perfect meet conditions. We saw so many good thing from start to finish. Our kids continue to improve from top to bottom and hopefully we can continue this trend when we return from our spring break.”
The Royals won nine events, including a sweep of the 200 dash. Tierra Sydnor won that race, with Olivia Burgess second and Angela Perry third.
Mia Mackenzie was a triple winner by taking both the 100 and 300 hurdles events in addition to the long jump. Valerie Obear picked up two victories, sweeping the shot put and discus. Mya Hammons won the 400 dash, and Southeastern was first in the 4×100 and 4×400 relays.
Both teams are off for Spring Break. Carmel is back in action April 10 for a dual meet at Pike. Southeastern travels to Fishers on April 12 for a junior varsity meet, then the varsity will compete at the annual Flashes Showcase April 13 at Franklin Central.
