Hamilton Southeastern won the Hoosier Crossroads Conference girls tennis championship on Saturday.
The eighth-ranked Royals scored 37 points, edging out No. 9 Brownsburg by four points. Audrey De Witt won the conference title at No. 1 singles, as did Ashley Spirrison at No. 2 singles. Both were 2-0 for the tournament after receiving first-round byes.
“Audrey won two tough matches, both in straight sets as she continues to play amazing tennis,” said Southeastern coach Kirk Webber. “Ashley also won both her matches in straight sets, losing a total of four games on the day.”
The Royals’ No. 1 doubles team of Jeorgia Templin and Taylor Cleary finished second in that division, going 2-1 for the day. They were named to the All-HCC team, as were De Witt and Spirrison following their undefeated performances.
No. 3 singles Tea Vrkic went 2-1 to finish second, while No. 2 doubles Nikki Hite and Jillian Pence went 1-2 to place fourth.
“This was our first conference tournament win since 2010, and it was one our team’s major goals for the season,” said Webber. “The girls stepped and had a great day of tennis, and it felt great to bring home the conference championship on our home courts!”

Hamilton Heights picked up a win in its home-court finale on Monday, beating Western 3-2.
The Huskies got straight set wins from No. 3 singles Abby Weber, the No. 1 doubles team of Emma Knowles and Kylie Rose and the No. 2 doubles team of Emily Peterson and Kinsey Dimmock. The win takes Heights to 8-2 on the season.
“Tonight was a tricky match,” said Huskies coach Cameron Scott. “After a long week last week traveling a playing a lot during our conference tournament, our girls were tired, both physically and mentally. They bounced back well though and played strong tennis tonight. These girls continue to respond so well to whatever challenges seem to be in front of them.”
The Huskies junior varsity team notched another win, as well, coming out on top 4-2 and getting a singles win from Hailey VanOeveren and doubles wins from Katy Beery/Addi Gordon, Kate Biggs/Gwendolyn Kelley, and Brooke Sears/Cortney Martin.

Westfield beat Pendleton Heights 5-0 on Monday.
The Shamrocks dropped just four games in their five matches. In singles, No. 1 Julia Gabennesch won 6-0, 6-1, No. 2 Maddie Heilmann won 6-0, 6-0 and No. 3 singles Meredith Carlson won 6-0, 6-1. In doubles, No. 1 Emma Clary and Katy Zaloudek won 6-1, 6-1 and No. 2 Maya Raymond and Claire Thurlow won 6-0, 6-0.
