The Westfield girls tennis team began its season Tuesday with a 5-0 Hoosier Crossroads Conference win at Brownsburg.
The No. 3-ranked Shamrocks, a state finalist team last season, won all five matches in straight sets. No. 1 singles Alexandra Grilliot got a 6-0, 6-0 shutout, while No. 2 Juliette Grilliot won 6-2, 6-1 and No. 3 singles Maddie Iovino was a 6-3, 6-3 winner. In doubles, No. 1 Bella Rivera and Isla Harvey picked up a 6-3, 6-2 victory, while No. 2 Addi Kooi and Ellen Volz also won with a shutout, 6-0, 6-0.
Westfield travels to No. 17 Avon this afternoon for another HCC meet.

Noblesville split its first two dual meets to start the season.
Last Friday, the Millers dropped a close 3-2 dual to Cathedral. Noblesville’s wins came from No. 1 singles, senior Bella Duncan in a 6-0, 6-0 shutout, and No. 3 singles Caroline Claussen, a freshman who got a 7-6 (4), 6-1 victory.
The Millers came back on Wednesday to beat Lawrence North 3-2 in a home meet. Claussen won a three-set match 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, then Noblesville swept the doubles. No. 1 Ayden Mulis and Whitney Nelson were victorious 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 and No. 2 Evelyn Neidenberger and Mia Teachnor won 6-0, 6-4.
The Millers open HCC play this afternoon by hosting No. 5 Zionsville.

University also opened its season with a split of its first two meets.
The Trailblazers fell to Zionsville 4-1 last Friday. No. 1 singles Laurel Buttrick was University’s winner, taking her match 6-0, 6-4.
On Wednesday, the Blazers rebounded to beat Western Boone 4-1. Buttrick and No. 2 singles Duygu Arseven won their matches in 6-0, 6-0 shutouts, while No. 3 singles Sruti Alturi was victorious 6-0, 6-2. The No. 2 doubles team of Anisha Patel and Sarah Coleman won 6-3, 7-6.
University plays at Heritage Christian on Tuesday.
