Girls tennis: Huskies lose to tough Lapel, Carmel beats HSE

Hamilton Heights dropped a 4-1 dual match at Lapel on Tuesday.
The lone Heights win came from Emily Peterson and Kinsey Dimmock at No. 2 doubles who improved their record on the year to 13-1 as a duo. The Huskies is back in action this weekend as they travel to Madison-Grant.
The Heights junior varsity team lost, but got singles wins from Brooke Sears and Jackie Beery.
“We knew tonight would be tough going against a strong Lapel team and with key parts of our lineup gone at a national BPA competition, but I was proud of how our girls embraced the situation,” said Huskies coach Cameron Scott. “These ladies battled hard and didn’t back down.”

Lapel 4, Heights 1
No. 1 singles: Anna Carl lost to Shannon 6-1, 6-0
No. 2 singles: Kennedy Hunter lost to Banagh 6-3, 6-0
No. 3 singles: Hailey VanOeveren lost to Baxter 6-2, 6-0
No. 1 doubles: Emma Knowles and Addi Gordon lost to Baxter and Riffey 6-0, 6-4
No. 2 doubles: Emily Peterson and Kinsey Dimmock def. Whaley and Eppert 6-2, 7-6 (5)

In an all-county girls tennis dual meet, No. 1 Carmel beat No. 8 Hamilton Southeastern 6-1 on Wednesday at the Todd Witsken Tennis Center.
The teams played two extra doubles matches. The Greyhounds swept the four doubles matches and won two of the three singles matches. In singles, the Royals’ Audrey De Witt won at No. 1 singles, outlasting Sydney Morris in a three-set match.
