The Hamilton Heights girls swim team looks to be on its way to a third consecutive Hoosier Conference championship.
The meet’s swimming events took place Friday night at Twin Lakes, with the diving to take place this coming week. The Huskies currently hold the lead with 306 points, with Western in second with 272 points.
Heights picked up five wins on Friday. Rachel Sanqunetti was involved in four of those victories, as she triumphed in the 200 freestyle and backstroke, then joined Emily Lester, Ryleigh Poe and Tara Holder to take the medley relay and 400 free relay.
Sanqunetti set a new conference record in the backstroke and new school records in the 200 free and backstroke. She swam 16 events in conference meets and won championships in 14 events.
Holder won the 500 free, leading a 1-2 finish with Poe taking runner-up honors. Carlie Flintoff finished fifth, giving the Huskies 51 team points.
