Girls soccer: Walker scores twice in Sheridan victory

The Sheridan girls soccer team hosted Faith Christian on Tuesday and won 3-0.
Sophomore Jensyn Walker scored the Blackhawks’ first goal at the 10-minute mark, putting a rebound of a Makenna Hammack shot. Hammack found the back of the net at the 30-minute mark, making the score 2-0, where it would stand at halftime.
Walker got Sheridan’s third goal, scoring with 10 minutes left in the game. Walker was the Blackhawks’ Player of the Game due to her scoring and “several more excellent shots,” said Sheridan coach Kurtis Olsan.
“The slightly reshuffled defense of Kristen Martin, Makaela Mosolf, Belle Holler, and Lilli Barker helped keeper Nixon Williams earn her fourth shutout of the season,” said Olsan. Williams had two saves on the night.
The ‘Hawks go on the road tonight to play Tri-West. Game time is 5:30 p.m.

played to a 0-0 tie with Cardinal Ritter on Tuesday.
“The game was back and forth from the very first whistle,” said Trailblazers coach Maddy MacAllister. “Unfortunately, neither team could find the back of the net.”
University will host International this afternoon for a 5 p.m. game.

Carmel sailed past Lawrence North 5-0 in a Tuesday Metropolitan Conference game.
Katie Soderstrom scored three goals for the Class 3A No. 3 Greyhounds, and also made one assist. Kelsie James and Emma Antoine both score one goal, with James also providing an assist. Jessica Dilger had two assists, with Tess Nihill and Ashley Witucki both making one.
Emily Melchi had one save. Carmel outshot the Wildcats 16-2.
The Greyhounds are perfect in MIC play at 3-0 and are 7-1-1 overall.

Guerin Catholic, ranked No. 4 in 3A, knocked off 2A No. 12 Bishop Chatard 7-0 in a Tuesday Circle City Conference game.
Elle Vuotto scored three goals for the Golden Eagles. Kenna Corley, Cassidy Lindley, Dani Mason and Quincy McMahon all added one goal. Anna Heck and McMahon had first-half assists.
