The Hamilton Southeastern girls soccer team kept its lead in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference standings with a 5-1 win over Westfield Wednesday at the Royals’ field.
Southeastern, the No. 1-ranked team in Class 3A, scored three goals in the first half. Ashley Wilson got the first one off an assist by Izzie Wallace. Later, Wallace scored two goals, both assisted by Kaitlynne Wallace.
The Shamrocks got on the board towards the end of the first half when Allison Bullock scored on a corner kick. The Royals added two more goals in the second half: Olivia Smith scored off an Izzy Johnson assist, then Wilson got one more in the net, with Ava Marquardt assisting.
“It was a great Think Pink night honoring those we have lost, supporting those that are battling cancer, and raising money for the cause,” said Southeastern coach Greg Davidson.
The Royals are 5-0 in conference play with two games remaining, and are 11-1 overall. Westfield is 1-4 in HCC play and 6-5 overall.
Noblesville stayed unbeaten with a dramatic 1-0 Hoosier Crossroads Conference win over 3A No. 10 Zionsville on Wednesday.
It was Senior Night for the 3A No. 4 Millers, and one that won’t be forgotten soon. After 78 minutes of scoreless soccer, Noblesville got its goal in the 79th minute when Jenna Chatterton found the back of the net. Makenna Maloy made the assist.
Noblesville is 3-0-1 in the conference and 7-0-2 overall. The Millers are right back into conference play on Saturday, hosting Brownsburg.
Fishers, the No. 8 team in 3A, played Brownsburg on Wednesday, and came away with a 1-0 win.
Taryn McFarland got an early goal for the Tigers in the fourth minute, and Fishers held that lead for the rest of the game. The victory improved the Tigers to 3-1-2 in HCC play (currently in third place) and 7-1-3 overall.
Carmel, ranked No. 3 in 3A, got one step closer to a Metropolitan Conference championship on Wednesday by beating Warren Central 3-0.
Morgan Parker scored the Greyhounds’ first goal off a corner kick by Kelsie James. Carmel added two more goals in the second half: Lila Simmons converted a penalty kick, then Lauren Rainbolt put a header into the net off a Sophie Shepherd cross. Abby Lee made one goalkeeper save.
The Greyhounds are 6-0 in the conference and 8-0-2 overall. Carmel will play Center Grove next month for the MIC championship. But first, the Greyhounds play Noblesville Monday at Murray Stadium. Next week is also Homecoming for Carmel.
“Homecoming week’s always a strange week,” said Greyhounds coach Frank Dixon. “We have three really hard games, because we play Brebeuf and Zionsville also. So we start with Noblesville and then we’ll play those other two.”
