Girls soccer: Hudson’s last-second goal sends ‘Blazers to victory

University got a last-second victory over Tipton on Thursday, winning 2-1.
Tessa Hudson scored the winning goal, putting a corner kick from Whitney Freeman into the net with five seconds left in the game. Meggie Tanona scored for the Class 1A No. 7 Trailblazers in the first half.
University is 9-2-2 and hosts Sheridan on Tuesday.

Hamilton Southeastern, the No. 1 team in 3A, took care of Mount Vernon 7-1 on Thursday.
The Royals scored their first goal in the 10th minute, when Bri Straus sent a rebound of an Izzie Wallace header into the net. Wallace scored the second goal, with Layla Brown getting the assist. That put Southeastern up 2-0, and that would be the halftime score.
The Royals cruised through the second half by scoring five goals. Brown, Wallace, Ava Marquardt, Ashlyn Freeman and Ashley Wilson all found the back of the net.
Southeastern is 12-1 and hosts McCutcheon on Monday for its Senior Night game.

Sheridan played to a hard-earned 2-2 draw with Crawfordsville on Thursday.
The Athenians lead 1-0 at halftime. The Blackhawks tied the game up with 32 minutes left in the second half with a Clair Purciful goal. Crawfordsville scored quickly to again take the lead, but Sheridan didn’t give up, and tied the game with 11 minutes left on a goal by Jensyn Walker, her first of the season. The Blackhawks took a season-high 15 shots on goal while only allowing the Athenians six shots.
Sheridan will host Eastern on Monday for its Senior Night game. The Blackhawks will also conduct a toy drive for Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital.

Hamilton Heights, ranked No. 20 in 2A, played to a 0-0 tie with 2A No. 4 Bishop Chatard on Thursday.
The Huskies are 5-1-4 and will play in the Hoosier Conference tournament next week.
