Girls soccer: Guerin Catholic slams Roncalli, Heights flies past Kokomo

The Guerin Catholic girls soccer team picked up a big Circle City Conference win on Thursday, beating Class 2A No. 10 Roncalli 4-1.

Ashley Peters scored two goals for the 2A No. 4 Golden Eagles, with Annie DeBone and Gabriella Deer both scoring one. Mia Gatz dished out two assists, followed by one each for Kylie Harrison and DeBone.

Guerin Catholic is 2-1 in conference play and 3-3-2 overall. The Golden Eagles go on the road Saturday to play at 2A No. 3 Bishop Dwenger.

Hamilton Heights, ranked No. 17 in 2A, cruised past Kokomo 7-1 on Thursday.

Sarah Toll scored three goals for the Huskies, with Natalie Marcum putting in two goals. Savannah Deetz and Elyse Hurley both scored one goal. Toll, Lizzy Smith and Marcum all made one assist. Audrey Lang had eight goalkeeper saves.

Heights is 6-1-2 and hosts Frankfort Saturday morning.

Sheridan, ranked No. 11 in 1A, lost to 1A No. 1 Heritage Christian 6-1 Thursday at home.

The Eagles scored two goals during the first three minutes of the game and eventually led 5-0 at halftime. The Blackhawks got their goal in the second half, with Avery Hills finding the back of the net off an assist from Makaley Terry.

Sheridan is 6-3 and hosts Taylor Saturday morning for a Hoosier Heartland Conference game.
