Girls soccer: County schools sweep HCC games

The Hamilton Southeastern girls soccer team moved up to No. 1 in the latest Class 3A soccer poll, and celebrated on Wednesday with a 4-0 Hoosier Crossroads Conference win over 3A No. 12 Brownsburg.
The Royals scored four minutes into the game, with Izzie Wallace getting a goal off an Olivia Smith assist. The Bulldogs tightened up their defense, keeping Southeastern up 1-0 at halftime. But the Royals got going in the second half, with three goals in 15 minutes. Wallace scored the first two goals of the second half, giving her a hat trick for the game. Maddy Bellaver scored the fourth goal. Brown totaled two assists, with Molly Harris also getting one.
In addition to the rise to No. 1 in the Indiana poll, the Royals are ranked No. 11 in the USA Today national poll and No. 15 in the Top Drawer Soccer national poll.

Westfield won a tough HCC game on the road at Franklin Central Wednesday 3-2.
Lauren McDonald scored two goals for the Shamrocks, with Ari Teles scoring the other goal. Westfield is back in action against Zionsville next Wednesday (Sept. 4).

Noblesville picked up an HCC victory at Avon on Wednesday, 3-0.
The 3A No. 3 Millers scored all three of their goals in quick succession in the second half. Jenna Chatterton got Noblesville on the board in the 59th minute off an assist by Makenna Maloy. Chatterton scored again three minutes later to put the Millers up 2-0.
Three minutes after that goal, Elana Chatterton was fouled in the goal box. Carly Hudnall converted the penalty kick for Noblesville’s third goal.
The Millers are back home next Wednesday to play 3A No. 13 Fishers in another HCC contest.

Fishers made it a county sweep in HCC wins Wednesday by beating Zionsville 3-1.
The 3A No. 13 Tigers improved to 2-0 in the conference and 3-0 overall. Fishers will play two games at Carmel on Saturday, taking on Bishop Dwenger at 10:30 a.m. and the 3A No. 2 Greyhounds at 7 p.m.

Hamilton Heights played to a 2-2 tie with Hoosier Conference opponent Western on Wednesday.
The Panthers scored the first goal of the game on a 20-yard kick. The Huskies responded with their own goal, which came when Emily Stirn played a long through ball to Cassidy Felger, who made a shot. The kick was deflected by the Western goalkeeper, but Kyndall Ferguson was there to put it away.
The Panthers scored before halftime to lead 2-1. In the second half, Heights adjusted its formation, which paid off as the Huskies controlled more and created more opportunities. Shanna Moffatt got the tying goal with 10 minutes left in the game.
“Center defenders Jayla Logan and Shanna Moffatt played strong the whole night to keep the Western attack in check,” said Heights coach Travis Kauffman.
The Huskies are 1-1-1 and play Yorktown on Saturday.
