The Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern girls lacrosse teams each got wins on Wednesday.
The Tigers beat Westfield 15-9 in an all-county and Hoosier Crossroads Conference game. Mac Miller tallied seven goals, followed by a four-goal effort from Skylar Fulton. Nina Dillard and Renata Garcia continued their scoring streak as Fishers rebounded from a tough overtime loss on Tuesday.
The Tigers will travel to top ranked Cathedral tomorrow for a 7:30 p.m. game.
Meanwhile, Hamilton Southeastern defeated Brebeuf Jesuit 9-7. In a first half with turnovers on both sides of the field, the Lady Royals hit their stride and a strong defensive effort with a balanced attack put them on top.The Royals snapped a three-game losing streak after opening the season with a 23-0 rout of Northridge. Adjustments on attack and transitions, along with strong draw controls gave the Royals the edge.
Megan Merryman scored a goal with 1:43 left to put the Royals ahead 8-7. Merryman scored again with 46 seconds left – her third goal of the game. Rachel Harris added two goals and three assists, Chloe Szot had two goals, Sam Borgert tallied a goal and an assist, and Jenna Jenkins added a goal.Twenty ground balls, 10 forced turnovers, and an interception made it tough for Brebeuf to get good looks at the goal. Solid defense from Kayla Sundling, Ashlynn Green, Ella Zingraf, Olivia Schenck, and Olivia Castor led the charge. Goalie Chloe Maddox had five saves for the Royals.
Southeastern will host Roncalli on April 9.
