Girls golf: Westfield edges out victory at Lafayette Jefferson Invitational

The Westfield girls golf team won a tight battle for the Lafayette Jefferson Invitational, which took place last Saturday at Battle Ground Golf Course.

The Shamrocks scored 308, ahead of runner-up Zionsville’s 311 and third-place Noblesville’s 315. Addi Kooi was the individual runner-up with a score of one under par 71. Kelsey Haverluck carded 75 and Sophie Raines scored 78. Kate Brown added 84 and Sami Hanavan totaled 89.

The Millers were led by Josie Kelley, who placed third with 74. Olivia Fowler scored 77, followed by Olivia Anderson 81, Karis Shields 83 and Lauren Turpin 83.

Carmel finished sixth as a team with 341. Sophie Mock led the Greyhounds with 75, followed by Maddie Headlee 83, Reese Roudebush 90, Georgia Murnan 93 and Allie Thompson 94.

Hamilton Heights placed second in a three-team meet last Thursday at the Commons in Frankfort.

The Huskies scored 219, behind Clinton Central’s 213. Crawfordsville only had three players score. Heights’ Taylor Morrison was the meet medalist with 48, followed by Tanner Penwell 55, Fiona McDonald 55, Presley Cherry 61 and Sammie Powers 62.
