Westfield added another invitational victory to its 2017 trophy case Saturday, taking the Hall of Fame Classic at Purdue.
The No. 1-ranked Shamrocks finished with the same score as No. 2 Zionsville: 312. Westfield won on the fifth-woman score, with Natalie Shupe’s 86 making the difference.
“It’s always nice to win on a fifth man because it shows how important the team aspect is in golf,” said ‘Rocks coach Trevor Neu.
Cailyn Henderson finished second individually with a 73, while Jocelyn Bruch also carded a 73 and finished third. Margaret Wentz scored 81 and Adrienne Montalone had and 85. Emma Clary played as an individual and shot 86.
“Really proud of how we battled today as a team,” said Neu. “We got off to a little rough start but stayed focus and finished strong.”
Carmel finished with a 326, Nina Hecht carded a 74 to place fifth individually. Erin Evans was next with 81, followed by Katie Kuc with an 82. Alex Waples and Libby McGuire both had 89s.
“I think we learned a lot on this challenging course,” said Greyhounds coach Kelly Kluesner.
Hamilton Southeastern scored 324 and Fishers carded a 330. Scores were unavailable at press time.

Guerin Catholic defended its Circle City Conference championship on Saturday at the Golf Club of Indiana.
The Golden Eagles won their second straight conference title by scoring 341. Other scores were Roncalli 359, Brebeuf Jesuit 368, Bishop Chatard 382 and Heritage Christian 418.
Guerin’s Angelica Pfefferkorn was the individual medalist with a score of 78. Gabby Gilrowski tied for second place with a 79. Rounding out the Golden Eagles scores were Mckayla Talman 87, Carly Hammons 97 and Hailey Brown 101.
