The Guerin Catholic girls golf team set a new scoring record while winning the Ben Davis Invitational Saturday at South Grove Golf Club.
The fifth-ranked Golden Eagles carded a score of 296, well ahead of second-place (and eighth-ranked) Brownsburg’s 315. Mckayla Tallman was the meet medalist, shooting a score of 70. Angelica Pfefferkorn carded a 74, followed by Sophie McGinnis with 75 and Christina Pfefferkorn with 77.
Four county teams competed at the 18-team Western Invitational Saturday at Chippendale Golf Club.
Ninth-ranked Lafayette Jefferson won the meet by scoring 331. No. 6-ranked Westfield placed second with a 334. Jocelyn Bruch finished tied for first with a 76, but lost a playoff for medalist. Natalie Shupe tied for seventh by shooting 80, and was followed by Grace Snyder with 87, and Cate Jensen and Megan Barker with 91s.
Hamilton Southeastern, which is tied with Lafayette Jeff for ninth in the rankings, placed fourth with a 342. Chelsea Morrow tied for third place with a 77, while Julia Eaton carded an 80, also tying for seventh. Other HSE scores were Mara Wilson 91, Maggie Watson 94 and Ashley Marcinko 97.
Noblesville placed seventh, shooting a 365. Bella Deibel led the Millers with an 89, followed by Ellie Karst 91, Taylor Caldwell 91 and Sarah Brenneman 94.
Fishers placed 10th with a 392, its best score of the season. Kaitlyn Brunnemer carded an 84, matching her best score at Chippendale. The Tigers also got season-best performances from Caitlyn Kim with 89, Haley Gausepohl with 105, Kaelyn Tai with 114 and Lilly McVay with 129.
