Girls golf: Caldwell goes five under to lead Millers

A remarkable round from Taylor Caldwell led the Noblesville girls golf team to a dual meet win on Thursday.
Playing their third meet in as many days, the No. 6-ranked Millers beat No. 3 Westfield 147-159 at Harbour Trees Golf Club. Caldwell led the way, carding a five-under par 30 to easily earn medalist honors.
Sarah Brenneman, Ellie Karst and Caroline Whallon each had 39s for Noblesville. Bella Deibel and Sophi Stutz both added 40s.
The Shamrocks were led by Sam Brown and Allie Hildebrand, both of whom scored 37. Cate Jensen added a 42, followed by Sophie McGinnis 43, Allie McKeown 44, Mallory Mortl 49 and Claire Thompson 54.
Both teams are back in action Saturday: The Millers play the Lapel Invitational at Edgewood Country Club, while the Shamrocks head north to Chippendale Golf Course for the Western Invitational.

Another clash between two ranked county teams took place Thursday at Stony Creek Golf Club, with No. 8 Hamilton Southeastern hosting No. 1 Carmel.
The Greyhounds won a close dual, 153-155. Freshman Claire Swathwood led Carmel with an even-par 36.
“Claire was so focused and confident during her round today,” said Greyhounds coach Kelly Kluesner.
Katie Kuc was next with a 38, followed by Ava Hedrick with 39 and Michaela Headlee with 40. Sydney Longstreth finished with four pars to score 42. Ava Nguyen played as an individual, carding 39.
The Royals’ Yanah Rolston was the meet medalist, finishing with a 3 under par 33. Ashley Marcinko and Grace Dubec both carded 40s, followed by Amber Luttrell with 42 and Marissa Spreitzer 43. Also playing for Southeastern were Lauren Stewart 42, Katy Pippenger 43, Kaley McHaffie 45, Cora Zink 46 and Gabby Willard 52.
Carmel will play at the Zionsville Invitational on Saturday, while Southeastern will compete in the Lapel Invitational.

Fishers won a dual meet with North Central 188-200 Thursday at Grey Eagle Golf Club.
Junior Lilly McVay led the Tigers with a 39, followed by Sarah Majeski 47, Kristi Lilek 51, Megan Lapp 51, Sydney Meyer 54 and Marissa Moore 57.
Fishers will play at the Western Invitational on Saturday.
