Girls basketball roundup: Golden Eagles hold off Greenwood Christian

Guerin Catholic won a close game with Greenwood Christian Academy on Tuesday, 38-36 at the Eagles Nest.
The Golden Eagles got off to a good start, leading 13-6 after the first quarter. Aliyah Dorsey, Katie Koger and Olivia Labus all made a 3-pointer during that period. Dorsey and Koger both hit another triple in the second period, which ended with the Golden Eagles in front 21-15. The Cougars cut Guerin Catholic’s lead to 28-26 by the end of the third quarter, but the Golden Eagles were able to hold on in the fourth.
Labus scored 11 points, with Koger adding 10 and Dorsey scoring nine. Kathryn Loso added eight points.
Guerin Catholic is 4-3 and hosts Tri-West on Friday.

Royals pick up second straight win

Hamilton Southeastern picked up its second consecutive win on Tuesday, beating Pendleton Heights 56-46 in a home game.
The Class 4A No. 9 Royals outscored the Arabians in each quarter, slowly building their lead throughout the contest. Southeastern led 18-15 after the first period and 28-24 at halftime. The Royals were up 39-33 after three quarters and continued to roll in the fourth period, getting several steals and turning them into baskets; Southeastern totaled 19 steals for the game.
Ryan Viele had a great night, scoring 19 points, including five 3-pointers, and also making four steals. Riley Makalusky added 10 points. Makayla Hinshaw was solid all around, with nine points, eight steals and six assists. Olivia Brown handed out seven assists; HSE totaled 19 assists for the contest.
The Royals are 6-2 for the season and travel to Avon Friday for a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.

Millers get comeback win at Brownsburg

Noblesville made a huge comeback at Brownsburg on Tuesday, rallying to beat the Bulldogs 45-42 and stay unbeaten in Hoosier Crossroads Conference play.
The Millers, back in the Class 4A top 10 rankings at No. 8 this week, led Brownsburg 14-5 after the first quarter. The Bulldogs took over in the middle periods, tying the game at 19-19 by halftime and jumping ahead 34-24 after three quarters. But Noblesville stormed back in the fourth period, outscoring Brownsburg 21-8.
Ashlynn Shade had a phenomenal game, scoring 33 points and making six steals. Shade, Kaitlyn Shoemaker and Brooklyn Ely all had four rebounds; Ely also made a pair of 3-pointers.
The Millers are 2-0 in conference play and 6-1 overall, winners of three straight games. Noblesville travels to Fishers on Friday for another HCC contest.
