Huskies beat Danville, are 2-0

Hamilton Heights made it back-to-back wins on the road Saturday night, as the Huskies won at Danville 45-36.
Heights got out to a great start, leading 14-5 after the first quarter. Jillian Osswald scored seven of those points, including a 3-pointer. The Warriors cut into the Huskies’ lead in the second period, but Heights was still ahead 22-16 at halftime.
Osswald hit two more 3s in the third quarter, helping Heights to a 34-23 advantage by the end of the period. The Huskies clinched the game from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, making 11 of 12 foul shots. Camryn Runner was 6-for-6 from the lone, while Osswald was 4-for-4.
Osswald totaled 20 points, including three 3-pointers. Runner also made a triple during the game, finishing with 13 points. Ella Hickok drained a 3 as well; she scored eight points.
“Another impressive win over a solid program tonight,” said Heights coach Keegan Cherry. “Great team effort.”
The Huskies are 2-0 and play their first home game of the season on Tuesday, welcoming Greenfield-Central.

Sheridan picks up first win

Sheridan won its first game of the season on Saturday, beating Elwood 41-34 in an away game.
The Blackhawks led 10-9 after the first quarter, but the Panthers took the lead in the second, going up 21-17 at halftime. Sheridan powered its way through the third quarter, outscoring Elwood 16-5, then held on in the fourth.
Allie Delph scored 10 points for the ‘Hawks, while Taylor Bates added nine points.
Sheridan is now 1-1 and goes back on the road Tuesday, playing at Western Boone.
