Westfield Washington Township received a donation from the National Charity League (NCL), Crossroads Chapter, Class of 2024 to help pay for an oversize bird nest at MacGregor Park. Visitors can find this oversize nest on the west side of the interior trails. This new playscape piece encourages outdoor play and creativity.

“Play areas out in nature encourage children of all ages to engage in activity while promoting sensory stimulation,” said Danielle Carey Tolan, Westfield Washington Township Trustee. “We want to inspire our community to visit this beautiful passive nature park.”

By adding various pieces of nature based playscapes, the Township is adding one more component to allow young visitors to be active.

Each NCL grade level is assigned different philanthropic focus areas. The emphasis for the Class of 2024 was environment. Kim Speerly, NCL Grade Level Advisor, said, “The girls really enjoyed planting a flower bed at MacGregor Park last spring and they wanted to contribute something else that would make a long-term impact to the visitors of the park.”

The Township, along with NCL, encourages people to visit MacGregor Park year-round and take advantage of all that the park has to offer.
