Get your water tested for free this Saturday

Are you interested in having your water tested for free? Are you curious about the resources available to help you correct water quality issues? Then you can visit the O.V. Winks Building at the Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Feb. 8 to have your water tested and learn more about water quality.

This is a drop-in style event and visitors can arrive and leave at any time. There will be booths of water treatment providers, health specialists, well drillers and water quality specialists. To participate in water testing, participants can pick up a water sampling bottle at one of four locations, fill it, and bring it to the fair. Only samples received in testing bottles will be accepted.

You can pick up your water testing bottle at the following locations:

  • Sheridan Town Hall, 506 S. Main St.
  • Arcadia Town Hall, 208 W. Main St.
  • Westfield Public Library, 333 W. Hoover St.
  • Hamilton County Soil & Water Conservation District, 1717 Pleasant St.

“Normally our office offers water testing at the cost of the testing kit. Those tests can add up, so now is the best time to do an initial water test,” said Hamilton County SWCD Conservation Technician and Outreach Assistant Taylor Wilson.  “This fair is a great resource because we’ve lined up several experts who are used to working with people who are testing their water for the first time.”

The fair is free. More information and FAQs can be found at hamiltonswcd.org.
