On Tuesday, July 11, local photographer Sally Wolf will share tips and tricks of the trade at the next Friends of the Library’s Tuesdays with Friends event. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the Hamilton North Public Library in Cicero. Photography enthusiasts, newbies and even the digitally challenged are invited to learn more about taking better photographs.
Stay Focused with Photography serves as a prelude to the annual Friends of the Library Photography Contest Picture a Better World. The Friends hope the event inspires others to photograph “acts of building a better world” and enter the resulting photos in the contest. Entries will be accepted between July 31 and Aug. 4 at the Cicero branch of Hamilton North Public Library.
As a portrait and field photographer, visual artist, and former art educator, Wolf draws from a wide range of experience to share techniques that photographers at all levels can understand and put to use immediately. What’s more, a special camera is not required. Camera phones capture those special moments and offer editing modes to enhance the picture further. Wolf gives her insights into helping others take the photographs they “meant” to take, whatever form of camera is employed. In fact, she hosts workshops with fellow photographer Rad Drew on iPhone photography to help people get better pictures of family, landscapes and even furry friends.
This must-attend Tuesday with Friends begins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11 and is open to all those interested in taking better photos. Being a patron of the Hamilton North Public Library is not required.
