George M Kanouse Jr.

July 30, 1929 – October 15, 2017

George M Kanouse Jr., 88, formerly of Cicero and Carmel, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Forum Parkway Health & Rehab in Bedford, Texas. He was born on July 30, 1929 to George M and Marie G (Mooney) Kanouse Sr. in Indianapolis.

George had worked for International Paper Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. He proudly served his country with the US Air Force and the US Navy Reserves. George moved to Texas in 2012 to be near his family. He was an avid fisherman, a former member of Cicero United Methodist Church and Carmel United Methodist Church, a former Lions Club member and a 53-year member of BPOE of Noblesville.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kathleen A (Brian) Wilson and Karen (Paul) Simon; a niece, Barbara (Toby) Brocker; and two grandchildren, Amy and Hannah Simon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma L Kanouse who passed away in 2008; and his twin-brother, Fred Kanouse.

Services will be held at noon on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. prior to the service. Rev. Byron Fritz will officiate. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
