Guerin Catholic got off to a fast start at Tipton on Thursday, and that helped the Golden Eagles to a 66-62 victory over the Blue Devils.
Guerin Catholic jumped out to a 22-10 lead after the first quarter, with Nicole Cunningham pouring in 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Tipton cut that led to 32-29 by halftime, but the Golden Eagles had another big quarter in the third, adding 20 points to take a 52-43 lead. The Blue Devils made another run in the fourth period, but Guerin was able to hang on for the win.
Cunningham scored 25 points for the Golden Eagles, including three 3-pointers. Olivia Labus added 16 points, seven of them in the fourth quarter.
Guerin Catholic is now 2-7 and hosts Indiana Math & Science Saturday afternoon.
