Gaylor Electric has once again earned Diamond Level recognition from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) through its STEP Safety Management System. This honor represents the highest level of achievement in ABC’s nationally respected safety program and reflects Gaylor Electric’s ongoing commitment to creating safe and productive jobsites across the country.
The STEP program – short for Safety Training and Evaluation Process – has been helping contractors build safer work environments for more than 30 years. Participants are evaluated through a comprehensive assessment of safety practices, policies, and results.
Earning Diamond Level status requires a deep commitment to training, planning, and continuous improvement at every level of an organization. For over a decade, Gaylor Electric has consistently reached this top-tier designation. The company’s approach to safety is rooted in education, accountability, and a genuine culture of care

Goodrich
“Safety is built into everything we do,” Gaylor Electric CEO Chuck Goodrich said. “We don’t treat it as a checklist, but as a shared responsibility. From leadership to the field, our teams are committed to learning, improving, and protecting one another. It all comes down to taking care of people.”
According to ABC’s annual Safety Performance Report, STEP participants, regardless of company size or type of work, can reduce recordable incidents up to 83 percent, making the best-performing companies 576 percent safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics industry average. Ratings range from Diamond, the highest, to Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Participant.
“Safety is a journey, and that journey is possible because of systems like STEP, which enables ABC member contractors like Gaylor Electric to actively build health and safety into their culture, creating industry-leading, holistic safety programs to protect their workers and deliver for their clients,” said Greg Sizemore, ABC vice president of health, safety, environment and workforce development. “STEP measures performance on key components, strengthens and expands best practices and builds safety culture. Our people are our greatest asset, and I commend Gaylor Electric for consistently fulfilling those commitments to raise the bar of safety performance.”
