Gary L. Brazee

November 1, 1947 – September 9, 2022

Gary L. Brazee, 74, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022. He was born on November 1, 1947, to Ford and Norma (Torrant) Brazee in Jackson, Mich.

He was an Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient, having served in Vietnam.

For most of his career, Gary worked for Shell Oil. He spent his final working years at Jet Star as Dispatch Manager. He retired at 63 and thoroughly enjoyed this phase of life. When asked how he was doing, he would usually reply, “I’m great, dude. Every day is Saturday.”

Gary was a dog lover and could often be seen walking his Labradoodle Archie through the neighborhood. Gary was happiest when enjoying good food and drink with family and friends. He was fiercely protective and supportive of those he loved. Whether cheering on his grandkids at various sports and school activities or enjoying wings with the guys on Wednesdays, Gary was always up for a good time. He is fondly remembered for using his favorite expression, “cool beans.”

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Ford and Norma (Torrant) Brazee; sister, Bea Sharp; and beloved dog, Jack.

Gary is survived by his wife, Mary Kathryn Brazee; daughters, Stacey (Cort) Carper, Tina (Doug) Rodgers, Tracie (Rob) Gruntler, Tami (Chad) Cuskaden; son, James Brazee; brother, James Brazee; grandchildren, Alex Rodgers, Taylor Rodgers, Sydney Gruntler, Stuart Gruntler, Max Carper, Meredith Rodgers, Emerson Carper, Ava Cuskaden and William Cuskaden; and nieces and nephews.

The family is respecting Gary’s wish to not have a funeral. A private celebration of life is being held in his honor.
