Garry Lee Boyer, I

June 16, 1958 – April 27, 2018

Garry Lee Boyer, I, 59, Sheridan, passed away Friday evening, April 27, 2018 at Maple Park Village in Westfield.

Born June 16, 1958 in Lebanon, Ind., he was the son of the late LaVerne Glen Boyer and Shirley Ann (Keeley) Lewis. Garry moved to Florida when he was about 12 years old, and graduated from Northeast H.S. in St. Petersburg, Fla.

For many years Garry farmed alongside his father; however, his entrepreneurial spirit kept pulling him in other directions. Garry was one of those people that seemed to know a little bit about almost everything – just ask him. For many years he operated a wholesale greenhouse for florists and landscapers. Garry was kind of a social butterfly, and making wholesale deliveries gave him plenty of opportunities to visit with customers. Garry also sold gently used merchandise and antiques out of the old Ben Franklin building in Sheridan.

Garry was a history buff and loved traveling to state parks.

He loved his family and his friends very much, and that went double for his dogs. Garry was a loving and gentle man who loved to take in dogs that were in a bad situation and in need of a good home. Hungry, Buddy and Rocky were his favorite rescues.

Garry is survived by his son, Garry L. Boyer, II, Sheridan; two grandchildren, Brooklyn Lee Boyer and Madisyn Ann-Marie Jackson, Sheridan; and by his brother Michael Boyer (Cindy), Harrison, Ark. Garry is also survived by many stepsiblings.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents; stepfather, Jim Lewis; stepsister-in-law, Doris Adair; and his stepmother, Janie Adair Boyer.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2017, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan. Burial will follow at Spencer Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Kercheval Funeral Home.
