Update No. 149
In my more than 12 years as superintendent at Hamilton Heights, I’ve witnessed the ever-changing landscape of education – but one constant remains: the unwavering innovation, imagination, and limitless opportunities that continue to shape the experiences of our students. Every day across our district, remarkable moments unfold – bold ideas take root, creativity flourishes, and new pathways emerge to inspire and empower the next generation.
For example, the district’s Sandbox was buzzing with excitement as students in the Construction Trades Education (CTE) program displayed their skills in a hands-on demonstration last week. Under the guidance of CTE instructor Kevin Sheets, students displayed precision, problem-solving, and industry knowledge – reinforcing the importance of workforce readiness and skill development in high school. The showcase highlighted Heights’ commitment to equipping students with practical tools for success beyond the classroom.
This was made possible, in part, by one of the district’s incredible partners, Chris Wooldridge of Bobcat Indy North, who provided the heavy equipment for this demonstration. Thank you for your time and investment in our students.

Today, May 2, is School Lunch Hero Day. I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to the dedication and hard work of our food service staff for their efforts in nourishing our students and our school community. These remarkable individuals rise early, prepare nutritious meals, and create a welcoming environment where every student is cared for.
Beyond serving food, they serve kindness – with warm smiles, thoughtful accommodations, and a commitment to ensuring every child feels supported. Whether behind the serving line or engaging with students, their presence makes a meaningful impact each day.
Your dedication keeps our schools running, our students fueled, and our community strong. Thank you!

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We can never express enough gratitude to our educators for the impact they have on our students. Day in and day out, they inspire, mentor, challenge, and support students – helping them grow academically and personally. From sparking curiosity to shaping futures, our teachers play a vital role in empowering young minds and building a foundation for lifelong learning. Their influence extends far beyond the classroom, creating connections, instilling confidence, and fostering a love for knowledge that lasts a lifetime.
Thank you for the passion, dedication, unwavering commitment and difference you make in the lives of every student.

Next Wednesday, we shine a special spotlight on School Nurse Day, recognizing the dedication and compassion of the extraordinary nurses who serve our students and staff every single day. Our school nurses do far more than administer care – they are trusted advocates, compassionate caregivers, and health educators, ensuring the wellbeing of our entire school community. They are the first line of support when students aren’t feeling their best, offering comfort, expertise, and reassurance. Through their work in prevention, outreach, and education, they promote health and wellness, making a lasting impact on the lives they touch.
Thank you for keeping our schools, students, and communities safe and thriving.
