Update No. 75

Happy New Year! We were excited to welcome everyone back to campus Wednesday and look forward to building upon the successes of the first semester. The opportunity of a new year brings with it the perfect time to reset, begin anew, do things differently if we need to, change our mindsets, paradigms, behavior, thinking, attitudes, and outcomes. Consider it a blank canvas that could be a new positive and impactful masterpiece!

We are ringing in the New Year with opportunities to join our team. We have recently posted two new open positions including Transportation Director and Corporation ECA Treasurer. We are always in need of cafe workers, bus drivers, and substitutes! We know our people are our greatest asset and education is made better for our students by attracting and retaining employees who are among the best in their fields. To check available positions and/or to apply today go to hhschuskies.org/employment.

January is School Board Appreciation Month and I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to our outstanding school board members: Dr. Kevin Cavanaugh, Doug Ozolins, Julie Davis, Arnett Cooper, and Gretchen Pennington. These individuals are invaluable assets to our school district and have been doing an incredible job. They bring a diverse blend of knowledge, expertise, and unwavering commitment to their role. They consistently donate their time and efforts on behalf of our students, our staff, our administration, and really, the entire district, often going well beyond in care and service. Among the many things our school board is tasked with is setting the vision and goals for the district and adopting policies that give the district direction to achieve its goals. Please join me in thanking them for their vision and voice in helping to shape a better tomorrow at Hamilton Heights every single day.

Hamilton Heights High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program is raising the bar again! It is hosting a job fair for junior and senior high school students considering careers in the architecture, engineering, and construction trades from all six Hamilton County Schools and three other local districts including Lapel, Pendleton Heights, and New Palestine. The event, set for 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16, brings students, our architecture, engineering, and construction workforce partners, and a mixture of not-for-profit support organizations together for a wide variety of apprenticeship, summer work, and post-graduation career opportunities.

Over the break, our most recent Monthly Update (Volume No. 74) was distributed and can be viewed at youtu.be/TsXY_U0Er1o. This edition shares information about an amazing speller, a trip to Mounds State Park, another award for our HHHS Construction Trades program, a video that will make you misty-eyed, and something so cool the Indiana Pacers Radio play by play guy, Mark Boyle, tweeted about it. Enjoy!

As a reminder, the Hamilton Heights Food Pantry will be open from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 17 at the High School. Enter through Door A. Thank you for your patience, support, and partnership as we work to ensure a safe, healthy, and inspiring learning environment this winter season.
