Fred Tipton “Butchie” Gary

June 12, 1938 – October 3, 2022

Fred Tipton “Butchie” Gary, 84, a lifelong resident of Sheridan, passed away on October 3, 2022, in Noblesville. Fred was born on June 12, 1938, to the late Clayton and Pansy (Tipton) Gary in Sheridan. Fred graduated from Sheridan High School, class of 1957.

Butchie knew the value of a day’s work and he was an entrepreneur at heart, working as an independent painting contractor for many years.

Fred loved his country, and he was grateful to our servicemen and women. He was a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion in Sheridan, Post 67. He was an avid golfer and looked forward to playing golf with his family and friends. Fred loved watching sports, especially football and horse racing, and he could be found going to the horse track to place bets on his favorite horses running that day.

The most important thing to Fred was his family, especially his grandchildren. He leaves behind his two sons, Greg (Rhonda) Gary and Michael (Fawn) Gary. He was a loving grandfather to Erin Gary and her significant other Jeromy Chrisman, Riley Gary and her significant other Nate Reinhart, Austin Gary and his significant other Megan Moore, Amber (Jon) Saladin, Brock Rollins, Emily (Garrett) Hammond and Garrison Rehfus and his significant other Lexy Condon. Fred was a proud great-grandfather to Kendall, Cale and Bennett Chrisman, Abram Saladin, and Hudson Hammond.

Preceding Fred in death are his siblings Evelyn, Floyd, Leann, Clayton, Robert, Howard, Betty Lou, Donald, Jack, and James.
