With the filing deadline just days away, Frank Whelan has formally announced his candidacy for the Hamilton Southeastern School Board representing District 2, currently represented by John DeLucia, who is stepping down.
“I am running for the school board because I deeply care about the students, the parents, the teachers and the Fishers community,” said Whelan. “Our students’ safety is our priority, and as a banker, I have had to deal with security issues. I will also use my expertise to strengthen the school district’s fiscal policies and budget – while making sure we put students first in all of our decisions.”
As a resident of Fishers, Whelan has raised three children who have both thrived and struggled in the HSE school system. Whelan has been seen multiple redistricting plans, referendums and has been a part of almost all aspects of the HSE community from academics, sports and arts to parent organizations and boards.
Whelan graduated from Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y., with a BA in Political Science and academic concentrations in History and Art History. Whelan currently works as a commercial banking professional at a local community bank. With more than 18 years in the financial sector, Frank has helped guide his clients through many different economic cycles of hardship and prosperity.
The election for the Hamilton Southeastern School Board will take place on Nov. 6, 2018. For more information, please visit whelan4hseschools.com.
