Fox Prairie Golf Course is partnering with First Tee Indiana golf instruction for Junior Golfers and adding sessions for children as young as 4 years old. For the third consecutive year, LPGA Teaching Professional Mary Rabb will provide weekly golf instruction for Junior Golfers during June and July.
“First Tee Indiana is a great program that helps introduce youth to the game of golf and we’re excited to partner with Coach Rabb and offer the sessions at Fox Prairie again this year,” said Noblesville Golf Director Gary Deakyne.
Little Foxxes is a new program being offered this year for children between 4 and 7 years old. No experience is needed and no clubs are needed. Little Foxxes will be held from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m. on Thursdays in June. The cost is $95, which includes a T-shirt, and clubs are provided for the session. The Little Foxxes program is sponsored by 24 Hour Dental Care.
“Every year, parents ask me how young is too young to see if their child is interested in golf. Little Foxxes is a great way to introduce the sport to them, let them hit balls and establish a foundation to see if there is passion for golf to continue as they get older,” Rabb said.
Children ages 7 and older have the opportunity to participate in First Tee Indiana weekly sessions from 8:15 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays (June 4 to 25 and July 2 to 23). Participants are invited to return to Fox Prairie Golf Course on July 29 for a 3-hole scramble and a chipping and putting contest. The cost is $125 per session. Golf clubs will be provided for those who need them at no additional fee. To register for a First Tee Indiana session, visit thefirstteeindiana.org.
In addition to the golf instruction, a PGA Jr. League for children under the age of 13 will focus on sportsmanship, course management, rules and golf etiquette. This program is a great opportunity for kids to play on the course and learn the whole game in a non-stressful developmental environment. League practice dates are 4:45 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays (June 4 to July 9). The league includes six matches throughout the summer against other teams at different courses. League registration will close on Tuesday, May 14 and the program will have a maximum of 14 players. Cost is $235 and includes practices/matches, uniforms and a gift. Scholarships for the fees may also be available. To register for the PGA Jr. League, visit pgajrleague.com.
