Last month, four Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Officers used bravery, training, and skill to save the life of an inmate in the Hamilton County Jail. Officers Pyle, Whaley, and Dunn and Sergeant Rairdon responded to an inmate who was having a medical emergency within the jail. The inmate was located and was not breathing and unconscious.
Using a department-issued AED, CPR, and teamwork, these officers were able to revive the inmate and save that individual’s life.
“I’m extremely proud of the professional men and women who make up our corrections staff,” Sheriff Dennis Quakenbush said. “These heroes are dedicated to the safety and security of the jail and were able to quickly put their training to use to save a life.”
Hamilton County Jail Commander Josh Carey and Sheriff Dennis Quakenbush awarded these officers with lifesaving awards.
First aid, CPR, and AED are mandatory trainings provided to every corrections officer within the jail division.
